The Day of LOVE

Brad Proposes

Yippee!!! It was a night we'd been waiting for for a long time. We were all in on the planning of Brad's romantic proposal, and so the day after Em's birthday, her mom joined us for Sunday dinner and soon after Brad left for a "meeting" and we all randomly decided to go look at the Alumni house where they are having their reception. I have to be honest, I didn't think that this would work at all, but Emilee was shocked and so happy. It was a wonderful night, and we are SO happy to have her joining our family.

This little one got up way to close to the action. I was afraid she might spoil the moment, but she didn't.

A few days later, Em "popped the question" and asked me to be her bridesmaid. Ahhhh, I'm so lucky to have both her and Cam as sisters in law. :)

Fire and Ice

My uncle Court invited us to go to the Fire and Ice Gala. It's a fundraiser for DSU, and I've always wanted to go. It was super fancy, but also a little bit stuffy for our taste. Our table was full of great company and conversation, though.

The dinner was absolutely delicious, and the place was overflowing with the Dixie spirit, which I always love, of course.

Steph was a saint and watched the kids for us. We took these ridiculous pictures when we got back. We were missing Amy and so we posed with this little Incarnación, who represents her.

Steph's so cute! I don't mind being the homelier sister. :)

Going Electric

Shaye's vehicles are definitely his guilty pleasure...only, he's not the one who feels guilty about them--I do! He has driven this Porsche 911 the past year and has loved it. I always try to discourage him a bit when he wants a new car, but then I end up loving it too. He sold his Porsche lease to his brother, and decided to get a Tesla. These electric cars are pretty awesome. (I can't lie either, the liberally-educated eco-conscious side of me thinks they're a practical way to get around too.) He's seriously smitten with this thing, and because it's a 4 door sedan, we go lots of places as a family in it. 

This company is so rad. They've thought of everything! The car is so smart and the auto-pilot is unbelievably good. Electric is definitely the way of the future.

We drove to Vegas for him to pick up his car. Thank goodness the littles crashed the way home. Traveling with kids can be SO tough!
